Filters


Use filters in your workbook to view the data you want with ease, without changing anything in your sheet. SheetRocks makes sure to keep your data organized while you manipulate the filtering rules to suit your needs.

Navigate to theFiltersmenu using the icon in theFormattingbar

or via theEditmenu

Basic Filters

1. Open the Filters menu and select the Basic dropdown

2. Click Add Basic Rule

3. Select the column you'd like to filter. SheetRocks will populate the sidebar with the filter options availabile

Check the "Has Header" box to keep your header row from being filtered

4. Select the checkboxes for the data you want to view filtered and click Add Basic Rule to confirm

Additional Basic filters will always narrow your results. To include multiple columns in an "or" mode use Advanced filters.

5. All filtered columns will be indicated with an icon in the column header

Advanced Filters

Advanced filters allow you to compose formulas to use as rules for your data

1. Open the Filters menu and select the Advanced dropdown

2. Click to Add Advanced Rule

3. Use the text box to enter the formula you want to use as a filtering rule

          a. Check the "Has Header" box to keep your header row from being filtered

Can't see your whole formula? You can expand the formula text box by dragging the bottom right corner.

4. Once you've written your formula, click Add Rule to apply it to your sheet

Additional Advanced filters will always narrow your results. To include multiple columns in an "or" mode use a single Advanced filter and the "OR" formula.

5. All filtered columns will be indicated with an icon in the column header

Managing filters

1. To rename, edit, delete, or toggle existing filters, navigate to the Filters menu

2. Hover over the rule you want to manage

          a. Basic rules can be renamed by clicking the Rename icon  

  that appears on hover

          b. Basic and Advanced rules can be edited by clicking on the name of the filter

Any edits must be saved by click the Update Rule button

          c. Delete a rule by clicking the  

x

  icon beside its name that appears on hover

          d. Click the checkbox next to any filter to toggle it on or off for your sheet

Use this feature to build lots of unique filtering options and toggle them to understand your data in new and novel ways (without messing around with the actual data)!
